The ides of March are done. You can officially bring on the April showers to make way for the May flowers. You can also bring out the lighter clothes and pretty flowers. There is something else you may be feeling. The feeling to clean everything and I don’t just mean by moping the floors. This is a great time for you to clean literally everything including yourself. Welcome to Spring Cleaning!
Start with a detox
OK you don’t have to go 100% for a 3 day juice cleanse. But try eating a little lighter for a few days. Maybe do some spa treatments or some at home spa treatments. Get a hair cut or color. Spend an hour or so in the sauna or a hot steam shower. Do some yoga. The idea here is just to do something for yourself.
Switch to green tea for a few days instead of coffee and soda. Eat more fruits and less chips. Cut out the flour, eggs, milk and coffee as much as possible. The idea is to consume foods and drinks that are easy for your body to process. This may result in headaches for a day or so (not to mention massive cravings for potato chips) but it will be well worth it in the end.
This doesn’t have to be a permanent thing, just try it for a bit and see how you feel. Note – it will take more then a few hours. Stick to it for a few days and enjoy the benefits afterwards. The idea here is just to clean out your insides for a few days and then if you choose, the pasta can come back.
Review your processes
Do you have certain things that you do each day that just aren’t working for you? Maybe you miss doing something you used to do or you may have a client that just isn’t a right fit for you. Maybe you just need to switch hosts or some provider. Now is the time to do it. There may be some cross over time but you will get through it. Besides, April is a five week month so take advantage.
Think about your clients as well. Is there a specific group that was once an ideal client but now maybe not so much? Have you found a new group to work with that works better for you? Don’t be afraid to make these kinds of changes. If you find your self in a rut or dreading sitting down at your desk this could be a sign that you are not on the right path. Maybe there is another way you can work with this type of client.
This goes into your processes as well. Just because you have been using a specific program for your bookkeeping for example, doesn’t mean you need to continue using it. There are always new and better things coming out. Do some research. Again think about what gives you headaches. If your bookkeeping processes give you headaches, maybe find a new way of doing things.
Move it all around
This is the mopping the floors type cleaning. Move things around in your office and your home and your car and clean under them. That chair that’s sitting in the corner that you usually just vacuum under, could potentially be better in another location.
There is nothing better then having a fresh look or updated view. Go wild and paint an accent wall. Find some little project in your office area that you can update and use that as a reminder of just how far you’ve come.
