Recently I had the extreme pleasure of taking part in the best two-week course I’ve ever taken. It has literally added elements to change your life. It’s from the amazing Monica from 45 Fairmont. Honestly, I was expecting the standard self-care courses we’ve all seen. Take time for yourself. Exercise. Take a bubble bath. Do something fun. This was not that course.
It started from the beginning. In that, it didn’t start right away. She made me wait a whole week to get started!!!! But she did give me some goodies including a morning meditation (which I still do) and nice orientation worksheet. Why do I still do the morning meditation? Well, it’s only 3 minutes and you can literally do it from anywhere. I have gotten to the point now where I know it by memory!!!
So, the first week finally starts. I had even written it down in my calendar. This week gave me some simple tips each day of things to mentally do. Things like meditation or breathing or EFT. Each day had a little exercise and workbook area for me to do. Nothing that took more than 10 minutes. Which is good because I can’t do things like this for more than 10 minutes! Each day had it’s own little affirmation as well. It was fun! It wasn’t the same as all the others. A lot of courses tell you to meditate, but they don’t tell you the best way to do so. Or they tell you to journal but they give you some very general writing prompts. This week she also helps set up your morning routine. This is a big one for me! When I don’t do my morning routine, my whole day gets wacky!
The second week, this was the big week for me. This week wasn’t about the mind. It was about the body. And no it wasn’t just about doing yoga. Although there is a day for stretching. There were two big things that stood out for me. The first was adaptogens (yes I had to google it to make sure it was a real thing too). I started taking ashwagandha. I noticed it greatly helped me reduce my stress during the day! On days where I would forget to take it, I would find myself getting nervous again and freaking out over little things.
The second was eating according to your cycle (yes men I’m talking about a monthly women’s cycle…). Men have hormone cycles that last 24 hours. Women have cycles that last 28 days, roughly. Eating according to your cycle (yes men I’m talking about a monthly women’s cycle…). Men have hormone cycles that last 24 hours. Women have cycles that last 28 days, roughly. Eating according to your cycle was a huge help for me. Ladies, you know what I’m talking about. Try this and then you will see!
Afterward, I took her 5-day challenge for morning rituals. And during the challenge, there was an opportunity to speak with her. Naturally, I jumped at the chance. It was such an incredible chat. We talked about issues I was having sticking to my morning routine. Not getting frustrated when I don’t have time to do all the self-care things I want to do. I’m so happy to be taking part in her new course as well, LA Babe State of Mind Toolbox. There are so many more meditation, exercises, amazing things to be learning and doing and I can’t wait to finish the course!
