I was drowning. Between the house, moving, the wedding, the honeymoon, cooking, cleaning, family, family, and more family, my business was getting lost. I was struggling just to get client work done. That’s when I said enough. It was time for me to ask for help.
As it just so happened, help found me. Someone who was interested in learning the work I was doing wanted to know if there was anything they could do for me. LIGHTBULB!!!! I said yes immediately. While it took some time for me to let go and put things in someone else’s hands, it was in the end what made this blog post possible.
The hardest part for me was not the idea of paying someone else to work for me or training them or evening the process of hiring them. My work and my business is very important to me. I wasn’t quite ready to trust anyone else with that. I know it’s easy enough to schedule Facebook posts each week, but I was having difficulty finding time to get it done. I was also having difficulty having someone else do it for me.
I have this same problem when it comes to cleaning my house. I get nervous when some offers to do the dishes. They won’t put the dishes back in the right place. They’ll use too much dish soap. They’ll clean the plates after they clean the knives. These are all issues that exist only in my head.
So while I still won’t let anyone wash my dishes, I will let someone schedule my Facebook posts and help me grow my business. In the end I am only one person and can only get so much done. By asking for help, I was able to duplicate myself and sleep at night knowing that my business is growing all on its own (with me watching to make sure the plates are put away properly of course)
Does this sound like you? Maybe it’s time you asked for help.
Do you have a crazy story like my dishes? Share them below. I love hearing them and they make me feel better about myself to know I’m not alone!!!!
